The World Organization of Webmasters (WOW) is pleased to announce this call for papers/participation in the upcoming First Annual West Coast Education Web Professional Summit, March 26 2006 in conjunction with the 11th Annual TechEd, March 27-29 2006 taking place at the Pasadena Conference Center Pasadena, CA.
Join your colleagues from around the country in platform and presentations, all highlighting the latest advances in Web professional education. Special this year will focus on best practices, curricula and training methodologies and how to create great-looking, accessible, performance-based websites; maximize staff productivity; convince variously skilled web designers and developers to use consistent interfaces and tools; and keep up with rapidly changing design and technology methods and techniques, all on a limited budget.

The World Organization of Webmasters has designed a summit event specifically to address the many issues faced by community college web professionals. This exceptional experience allows participants to network; learn about the latest web technologies, techniques, and best practices; and attend networking sessions, all within a supportive peer environment. Whether you are a webmaster or an instructor of web development courses at a community college, this annual event is for you.

9:00 am to 10:30 am. "Web Project Management"
In this interactive session attendees will learn:
- How to prioritize your Web projects
- Effective Web project leadership skills
- The best Web project management tools available
- Implement effective scheduling, tracking and project management techniques
- Examine project management problems that WOW conference attendees are experiencing and discuss their potential solutions
10:45 am to 12:00 pm "Web Design and Development"
Attendees will learn:
- What it takes to make a Web site accessible
- How to create a usable site
- Effectively managing site architecture
- Using CSS in a multitude of browsers and computing platforms
- Latest tools, techniques and trends
- Learn model programs in place today
- What the future holds for practitioners within the Web profession
1:00 pm to 3:00 pm "How to Recruit and Manage your own Web
Team"
In this interactive session attendees will learn:
- How to establish student Web teams
- How to best identify, recruit, manage and provide incentive for high performance "volunteer student" Web teams
- Defining the best student Web team structure
- Setting roles, responsibilities and measuring performance of student team members
- Managing and motivating the newly formed student team members
- Managing potential conflict in project Web teams
- Examine challenges that WOW conference attendees are experiencing and
discuss their potential solutions
*During this session event attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a “guided exhibit hall break” to explore the latest technologies and offerings from industry live on the TechEd show floor.
3:15 pm to 4:00 pm "WOW Articulation Initiative "
Attendees will learn:
- The latest efforts underway at WOW to access the effectiveness of the current Web professional programs in place at our nation's colleges and high schools and our ongoing effort collaborating between industry and education
- How to implement, maintain and market model Web professional programs into their own schools
